Sea Kayaking in Pembrokeshire

Sea kayaking is one of the oldest forms of transport and provides a diversity of exhilarating opportunities. Including long sea crossings, ground-breaking expeditions to isolated areas, playing in the surf, journeying to remote beaches, or simply using the kayak as a platform from which to observe the fauna and flora of coastal waters.

Pembrokeshire can provide all these opportunities, and few paddlers know it better than Nige. The coastline is one of the most beautiful and diverse in the world, ranging from high sea cliffs to secluded coves and calm estuaries to raging tidal races such as the renowned ‘Bitches’ of Ramsey Sound.

As one of Britain's National Parks Pembrokeshire enjoys a special protection to ensure that its beauty and relaxed way of life is preserved, and Nige can help you discover this special corner of the world in one of the most environmentally friendly ways available.

“And that’s one of the things I like about kayaking – you have to make an effort to go out and use a kayak in terms of preparation, reaching your paddling location and, of course, physically. I think that will ensure that it doesn’t take off in quite the way some more accessible sports have.

“There’s a positive side to all that effort too, in that being out in the wilds, travelling under your own steam in an environmentally-friendly form of transport, you can develop an awareness of and appreciation for the activity and the environment in which it takes place. I think this is really important given the pressure on the outdoors these days.”
